Kevin McCurry, MD

 

Dr. McCurry is a family man and enjoys time spent with his wife, Joanne, and their five children in their various stages of development.  Many of them have a desire to serve overseas as a result of several family trips taken for medical missions.  In addition, Dr. McCurry has a keen interest in Bible study especially as it relates to ancient history.

Undergraduate Education:
BS Geology, Portland State University : 1984
Dr. McCurry's training in geology makes him particularly adept at diagnosing kidney stones and gall stones.  :)

Dr. McCurry graduated with honors, as an Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society inductee, in the top five of his class from the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden, NJ in 1990.

Residency:
Family Medicine, U.C. Davis Family Practice Residency, Mercy Hospital Redding, CA : 1993
Transferring to the UC Davis program for the last two years, he received the full exposure to family medicine.  In his final year he served as Chief Resident.

Internship: University of Utah Dept. of Internal Medicine : 1991
Intially intending to go on to Gastroenterology, Dr. McCurry finished the internship year with an emphasis on cardiology training.  Because of a growing family and a desire to spend more time with them, Dr. McCurry elected to finish his training in Family Medicine.

Dr. McCurry has participated in the training of medical students from the University of Washington since 1994.  First year medical students spend a month during the summer with Dr. McCurry learning family medicine in clinic, hospital, homes and  emergency department settings. 

Board Certifications:
American Board of Family Medicine : 1993, 2000, 2007
Dr. McCurry has been board certified since 1993 with recertifications achieved in 2000 and 2007.  Certification must be renewed at least every seven years, and maintenance of board status indicates a dedication to remaining abreast of advances in diagnosis and management of diseases, as well as prevention of diseases.
